Andrew has had a 36 year long career in the marine cargo claims World.

As a cargo claims adjuster for international insurance brokers Willis, he learned all aspects of cargo claims to eventually settle in the recoveries area. A desire to work abroad took him to Hong Kong where life working for a small recovery agent brought exposure to the more confrontational aspects of marine claims handling. Frequent necessary ship arrests quickly brought contact with P and I clubs and the ability to negotiate guarantees etc. The criminal element of shipping was prevalant in the Far East with fraud and piracy commonplace. Exciting times and good experience. Experience that returned to the UK.aj sailing

On his return to Willis as an Executive director, Andrew was involved in the establishment of the Moscow Lloyd’s Agency. Whilst familiar with survey reports and formats, this brought a valuable opportunity to learn more about the trials of surveyors and the challenges of running a survey company.

A short spell in London then led to Andrew joining Cox Claims Group where he was eventually appointed MD and remained in that position for 10 years. 2 years of which were spent in Antwerp.

As a contractor and consultant, Andrew has worked with numerous loss adjusters, surveyors and TPA’s. He is a friendly and sociable character, well known and liked in the cargo World !

A desire to use this knowledge and experience to bring some improved efficiency to the marine cargo world led to a collaboration with IT software developer, Steve James.

Between them they have developed the on line cargo surveying system that is Cargo Survey Control. The app enables quick transfer of survey findings via mobile phone or tablet in an organised and consistent format. Andrew understands the traditions of the marine cargo market whilst seeing the advantages that new technology brings.
